"Food is really good, queuing up is the issue as its quite packed. Parking is abundance at night time, while day time it’s a bit difficult to find parking."

"Good to see my favourite nostalgic restaurant has expanded to the shoplot next door. Now with 2 shoplots, they can cater to more customers. Been coming to this place since the sixties when I was young. If I am not mistaken, this is the 3rd generation family run place. It serves many of the nostalgic old fashion dishes like yee fu wan tan, qua far mee, pork net lard meat rolls, lenggong mee which I remember from the old days. Don't forget the famous Ipoh custard dessert. The flavour has not changed much, coupled with the old uncles taking our orders with serious no-nonsense faces. Forget the modern cafe smiling waiters. Hahahaha.. Truly brought back memories of old with lovely antique deco. One of the "must go" places when I come back to Ipoh."

"Comfort Food Done Right: A Taste of Traditional Ipoh · Location/Address: 2, Jalan Seenivasagam, Ipoh, Perak. (A classic eatery in the heart of Ipoh). A perfect example of Ipoh's classic, no-fuss eateries. We had a wonderfully satisfying dinner here, starting with the Fried Kuey Teow with Beef—truly "wok hei" infused and silky with egg. The Deep Fried Chicken was tender and flavourful, and the Kangkung with Belacan packed the right amount of spicy, savory punch. As highlighted in food features, this place has a great nostalgic flair. It's unpretentious, focused on solid technique, and offers excellent value. Washed down with Chrysanthemum Tea, it was a complete and comforting meal. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic, old-school taste. Q: What is the best item to order here? A: You can't go wrong with their signature Fried Kuey Teow with Beef. It's a masterclass in "wok hei" and is consistently excellent. Q: What is the atmosphere like? A: It's a classic, no-frills Malaysian Chinese eatery with a nostalgic, old-school vibe. The focus is entirely on the food. Q: Is it good for a quick meal? A: Yes, perfectly. Service is efficient, and the food comes out quickly, making it ideal for a satisfying lunch or dinner. Q: Is parking available? A: Parking can be found along the surrounding streets like Jalan Seenivasagam. It's a busy area, so you might need to circle a bit during peak times."

"Great place to go if you want to try unique / authentic traditional Cantonese and Hakka food! The 50 years’ old restaurant is also very honest to give warning or questioning about the dish we wanted to order if we could finished! We (5 +2) had the whole chicken stuffed in pork stomach soup dish (need to pre order). It’s amazing ! And yam fried with kailan and the pork lard net spring roll were very good too! We couldn’t be too greedy …. there are many interesting food to try for .. we just have to come again in next trip! Suggest to book the table especially for dinner. It’s v v busy with locals too!"

"Established for almost 70 years, Hoong Tho is one of the first Chinese Restaurants in Ipoh. We had a sumptuous meal ordering some of their signature dishes such as Fried Wanton, Caul Fat Spring Roll, Stewed Chicken Soup with Pork and Gui Hwa Glass Noodle, they were all delicious. It was full house in the old section on a weeknight and I can fully understand why."

"Found this place by chance while walking around Indian Town and thought of giving it a go. The Fried Gui Fah Tung Fun and Lobak were the star of the night. Beef koay teow and clay pot were just average. On a whole it's still an enjoyable meal, old school dishes you don't get to eat often these days."
